7/17/2010 - TRANSIT CENTER AT MANAS, Kyrgyzstan -- Every week, a member of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing is selected as the Warrior of the Week. This individual is recognized based on outstanding performance, good conduct, work ethic, and most importantly, for a job well done.
Meet the Warrior of the Week. Staff Sgt. Andrew DiMichele is NCO In Charege of the 376th Intelligence Flight and is deployed here from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. He hails from Williamsport, Pa.
Here's what Airman/Sergeant last name has to say about himself and his deployment to the Transit Center at Manas.
What do you do on a daily basis at Manas? Provide KC-135 and C-17 aircrews with a current intelligence threat picture through pre-mission intelligence briefings and debriefings
What do you enjoy about being at Manas? It affords me opportunities to volunteer and see another country
Why did you choose to serve in the military? I didn't know which way to go when they were forcing me to choose a major in college.
How do you feel what you do contributes to Operation Enduring Freedom?
Providing intelligence to aircrew gives them a better overall picture of where current threats are and how they are supporting the war.
Family: Wife - Janelle DiMichele, Son - Hayden James DiMichele
Time at Manas: 40 days of a 120-day deployment
Time in military: 6 years
Greatest accomplishment: My son.
Goals you want to achieve or meet while at Manas: Volunteer and finish reading "Elegant Universe" and "A Briefer History of Time."
Hobbies: Music (guitar, piano, drums, bass, etc), Mixed Martial Arts, Photography
Your best habit: My self-deprecating sense of humor
Favorite movies: Fight Club, Back to the Future series, and Jaws
Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
My dad taught me how to be a good father, role model and friend.
If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why?
The late, Evan Tanner. I believe he had an incredible view on life and his philosophical beliefs were cut short by his untimely death. |
