from 376th Air Expeditionary Wing

2/24/2012 - TRANSIT CENTER AT MANAS, Kyrgyzstan -- Every week, a member of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing is selected as the Warrior of the Week. This individual is recognized based on outstanding performance, good conduct, work ethic and most importantly, for a job well done.

Meet the Warrior of the Week -- Staff Sgt. Terrance Broaddus is a 376th Airlift Expeditionary Security Forces battle NCO from the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. He is a native of Philadelphia, Pa.

Here's what Broaddus had to say about himself and his deployment.

What do you do on a daily basis at the Transit Center?
I go the gym every day. Occasionally I'll go to Shooters and watch a movie. Sometimes I'll go to different chow halls other than the main dining facility because the menus are different.

What do you enjoy about being at the Transit Center?
I enjoy the cool weather. I am not a fan of 140 degree temperatures. I am a big fan of watching the personnel rotate out and getting to feel that excitement you can only get from coming home.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I wanted to do something that none of my friends were doing, learn a skill, that I was interested in and see something different.

How do you feel about your contributions to the Transit Center mission and current operations in the AOR?
I feel that I am a valued and appreciated member of this team and my job directly contributes to the Global War on Terror because we protect those that protect the world. We are side by side on the ground with our sister services.

Family: mother and father

Time at the Transit Center: about three months

Time in military: almost nine years

Greatest accomplishment:
I once fought a bear to the death with my bare hands...seriously, in 2006 I was the first ever Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Jacobson Award winner for Pacific Air Forces.

Hobbies: Reading, writing, Martial Arts and boxing.

Your best habit: Physical Fitness

Favorite Quote: "DO or DO not, there is no try!"

Favorite movies: Forrest Gump, The Count of Monte Cristo, Legends of the Fall, The 13th Warrior, Training Day and Fallen

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
If I was to emulate anyone it would be Master Sgt. Chris Howard. He constantly pressured me to be better than I was. I would instill that same drive in my subordinates. Never settle and you can always improve. Even when you fall short, just say to yourself, "I am not the worst".

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why?
If I had an hour, and only one hour I would have to choose my Brother. Reginald
Johnson. I would ask him all the questions I can't now. I would ask him if he was proud of what I've done.
