Meet the Warrior of the Week -- Senior Airman Khristyna Luna is a 376th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron Ops Town dinning facility manager from the 146th Airlift Wing, Channel Islands, Calif. She is a native of San Pedro, Calif.

Here's what Luna had to say about herself and her deployment.

What do you do on a daily basis at the Transit Center?
A typical day at the TCM includes Skyping with my family, working at Ops Town Dining Facility, having dinner or playing cards with my fellow Airmen.

What do you enjoy about being at the Transit Center?
I come from an Air National Guard unit, so being deployed to Manas has allowed me to fulfill my job duties on a higher, more demanding level. I love gaining the experience, learning new things, and applying everything that has been taught to me in the past three years.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
My stepfather has a career in the Air Force, and all throughout my senior year of high school my parents pushed me to join the military for education benefits because I had already been accepted into the college of my choice. I always said I would never join the military unless camouflage came in pink. Never say never!

How do you feel about your contributions to the Transit Center mission and current operations in the AOR?
I am very pleased with my contributions to the TCM and current operations. I have participated in a variety of events and projects that have allowed me to showcase my talents. Doing my job for the military while still being able to do what I love in civilian life makes for a successful and enjoyable deployment.

Family: Back at home I have an amazing family waiting for me. My mom, stepfather, little sister, and my dog.

Time at the Transit Center: 3 months

Time in military: 3 years

Greatest accomplishment: Graduating with my Associates degree in Fashion Design from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while at the TCM:
Some goals I would like to achieve during my stay at the TCM include working on my CCAF degree, expanding my knowledge of the work area, and becoming a strong leader.\

Hobbies: Sketching, sewing, painting - basically anything that has to do with art.

Your best habit:
I would say my best habit is taking initiative. Someone once told me I run on "auto pilot."

Favorite Quote:
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. You're the guy who'll decide where to go." - Dr. Seuss

Favorite movies: Nacho Libre, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, What's Eating with Gilbert Grape, Rush Hour, Grease and Marie Antoinette

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
My mom is my favorite mentor. She has taught me many facts about life that have helped me grow over the years. My mom always gives sound advice at the appropriate time. She has taught me compassion, motivation, responsibility, and many more important qualities that I have embraced.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why?
I would love to spend an hour with Coco Chanel; she was such an influential fashion designer and has set the standard for many designers to come. Coco was not afraid to stay true to herself, and it is clear that her designs came from the heart and were meant to please her customers. I believe those are the key aspects of designing. To be able to spend an hour with Coco Chanel and hear her philosophies of fashion would be an honor.
