2/22/2012 - TRANSIT CENTER AT MANAS, Kyrgyzstan  -- The post office opened its doors at a more convenient location Feb. 22.

It moved from near the gym to its new temporary home--next to Pete's Place.

"This is a great location for the customer," said Tech. Sgt. Aaron Tibbits, 376th Expeditionary Communications Squadron communications security manager. "Everyone knows where Pete's is and it's closer to the bazaar and the Exchange."

This is the second move for the post office.

"The first location was inconvenient for transient personnel living in the dorms," said Owen Smith, postmaster. "We moved to the location across from the gym to make things a little more convenient."

With the recent increase of people processing through the Transit Center, the passenger terminal has made plans for expansion. Plans for the expansion and the post office move have been in effect since last year.

There are plans to move the post office again in July.

It will be in building B1105 in the Civil Engineer Squadron compound.
